Audi TT GT4 concept

Audi is tossing out a line in the shape of a new concept car to see whether or not its customers will bite. This new concept is called the GT4 and is based on the TT sports model. Production for the GT4 concept is planned for the 2012 model year with sales starting at 120,000 Euro on both European and Asian markets.

The TT GT4 features a motorsport body with a roll-over cage and a safety-optimized fuel tank box, as well as other modifications appropriate for an affordable motorsport vehicle. The exterior sees the front apron, rear apron, and the rear wing borrowed from the Audi TT RS. The new hood, doors, and trunk lid are all made of CFRP while the windows are made of plastic.

Audi has equipped the GT4 with a TFSI engine producing about 340hp. This is handled by an S-tronic transmission with a differential lock and a modified production suspension with adjustable dampers. The vehicle is finished off with 9.5 x 18 inch light alloy wheels.

Audi RS7 Sportback

The Audi A7 is a car with a very short history in the automotive industry. Previewed by the Sportback Concept at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, the production version of the A7 Sportback is already on sale, albeit not on all markets. This vehicle may be great in its own right, but it will be mediocre in comparison to the RS7 version undoubtedly in the works.

Audi hasn’t exactly offered any details on this future model, but following the tradition of every other model in the line-up, we know for a fact that we will see an RS7. And while the Audi A7 targeted models like the Mercedes CLS and the BMW Gran Coupe, the RS7 will focus on models like the Aston Martin Rapide while serving as a much cheaper alternative.

The Audi RS7 is expected to be revealed sometime in 2011, with sales to begin in early 2012.

Hit the jump to read more about the future Audi RS7.

Mercedes-Benz SLK Final Performance RS by Piecha

While everyone is waiting for the new R171 generation Mercedes SLK, tuners are still preparing some cool packages for the recently discontinued model. One of those tuners is Piecha Design who have prepared the “Final Performance RS EDITION,” in order to say good bye to a pretty cool car.

The send-off package includes a distinctive front-spoiler bumper with integrated LED daytime running lights, wedge-shaped side skirts with air intakes, a rear bumper with a wide grid core and diffuser vane, and a rear spoiler lip. The vehicle also carries Piecha dp2 Phantom rims in a 19 inch (front) & 20 inch (rear) size with the use of 225/35 front tires and 265/25 rear tires.

The package also includes lowering springs from H&R, a new set of dp2 Phantom rims, black anodized aluminum aero wings, and special wind deflector with the signed “Final Performance RS Edition” logo. These additions are pretty cool, but the highlight of the vehicle is the legendary PIECHA power converter. This converter allows the vehicle to take in all of the power of the engine without even thinking twice about it. We’d love to tell you the amount of power this converter is facilitating, but Piecha have yet to announce these numbers.

Audi RB-1200 S Performance Bike Concept

If BMW does it, why wouldn’t Audi? We are talking about the production of sport bikes, and this new design from the mind of Gavin Harvey combines different sports car elements to create a pretty ingenious piece of work. It’s called the Audi RB-1200 S and it definitely gets our seal of approval.

The Audi RB-1200 S has R8 lights and new front brakes colored in the now famous Audi red. Splashed across the front is Audi’s well-known four circles engraved into the metal. The bike’s seat will be made from leather and will also have carbon fiber detail. Right under the seat, along with the rear lights, is where the designer envisioned the location of a twin exhaust.

Harvey’s design may be a work of art, but we’ve seen renderings of Audi bikes before and nothing much has come of them. Maybe we’ll get lucky with the Audi RB 1200 S. So, what do you think? Should Audi start developing sports bikes?

Motor Trend races a Ferrari 458 Italia against a Ducati 1198S

In the annals of Italian automakers, Ferrari is without question at the top of that list having produced some of the world’s fastest, most powerful, and most iconic vehicles known to man. And when it seems that the company has exhausted all of its efforts in their supercar line-up, they come out and release the 458 Italia, an absolute gem of a supercar that’s already considered one of the all-time greats – recalls notwithsanding.

So when Motor Trend wanted to do a little showdown with the 458 Italia, they predictable reached out to its cross-town rival Lamborghini to set a duel between the Maranello stallion against the Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera. To everyone’s surprise, Lamborghini declined the invitation, leaving the 458 Italia with no opponent to go toe-to-toe with.

Fortunately, Motor Trend had a back-up plan with another iconic Italian brand with the only caveat being that this brand runs on two wheels. Whereas Lamborghini failed to answer the call, Ducati and it’s 1198S street racer were up for the challenge.

Ferrari collector adds a one of a kind matte red Ferrari 599 GTO to his collection

Remember the Gemballa MIG-U1 based on the Ferrari Enzo? Apparently, the owner of that car has extreme passion for Ferrari models because he has moved on to a very real, and very exclusive, matte red Ferrari 599 GTO. According to Ferrari president Luca de Montezemolo, this is the first and last model to be offered in this color straight from the factory.

There are no other details available about this exclusive 599 GTO, but we doubt there will be any changes made under the hood. We expect the owner will be just as happy with the same V12 engine delivering a total of 670 HP at 8250 rpm with a maximum torque of 620 Nm at 6500 rpm as found int he standard model. Who wouldn’t? This engine launches the GTO from 0-60mph in just 3.35 seconds, while top speed goes up to 208 mph. To top it all off, this Ferrari can lap the Fiorano test track in one minute and 24 seconds. It seems the matte red look is completely befitting of this elegant speedster.

So now this guy has the Gemballa MIG-U1 and a one of a kind matte red Ferrari 599 GTO. All that’s left is for him to take them out to the Nurburgring to test Ferrari’s affirmations.

Renntech makes the Mercedes SLS AMG snort like a raging bull

Anytime you have a car that has become the apple of an auto tuners’ eye, you should give yourself a pat on the back and revel in the unbridled attention you’re new exotic is getting.

We figure that’s what the brass over at Mercedes are doing now, congratulating themselves over the enormous success of the SLS AMG. We’ve already seen it subjected to performance upgrades from here to the other side of the world so it really doesn’t surprise us anymore to see that another aftermarket company has taken a stab in outfitting the SLS AMG with a new package.

This time around, it’s our boys over at RennTech giving the SLS AMG a new performance exhaust that features a secondary catalytic bypass and x-pipe, tuned with their new ECU tuning software and producing, as RennTech puts it, ‘an intoxicating growl’.

More than the new exhaust system, RennTech also gave the SLS AMG a few exterior upgrades, including a carbon fiber front splitter that increases the downforce and overall functionality of the car. There’s also a new carbon fiber rear diffuser that also increases the SLS AMG’s downforce while also improving the air drag.

If you want to learn more about these upgrades on the SLS AMG, RennTech wants you to contact their sales department directly where, we figure, they’re going to give you the full lowdown on their new package for the already awesome SLS AMG.

In the meantime, check out the video of the RennTech-improved supercar in action.

Range Rover Sport by Startech

Fresh off of their tuning package for the venerable Land Rover Defender, celebrated tuning firm Startech has released yet another program for the British SUV brand, this time for the Range Rover Sport. The vehicle was recently revealed at the 2010 Essen Motor Show.

The styling program includes a bevy of new features, turning the Range Rover Sport into a stunning piece of black machinery. Among the exterior features are an aggressive front fascia, a revised rear apron with a new and integrated exhaust ports, a removable section on the rear that allows easy access to the SUV’s trailer hitch. Startech also added LED daytime running lights on the vehicle and outfitted it with a new set of 22” light allow wheels.

In the interior, Startech also went nuts with the upgrades, putting front and rear inside door panels in all factory leather colors, a new sports steering wheel, stainless-steel scuff plates that have illuminated Startech logos, aluminum pedals, and high-quality floor mats with color-coordinated leather borders. On top of that, the aftermarket tuning firm is also offering a bespoke customization upgrade for those who want their SUVs upgraded to the brim. Included in the bespoke program are items like premium-grade leather upholstery, exclusive and exotic wood trim sets, and rear tray tables, among other things.

Top Gear USA: Dodge Viper ACR-X Review

Top Gear USA may have wrapped up the second episode of their very first season, but due to geographical ramifications, many may have missed their first review. In Episode One of Top Gear USA, the boys tested the most powerful Viper in the line-up: the ACR-X.

In this video, you’ll see the USA’s version of the Stig as he whips the Viper around the new Top Gear USA track. The track is 1.6 miles long and consists of several turns as well as a few straightaways for optimal speed.

As a reminder, the Viper ACR-X is powered by the same SRT developed 8.4 Liter V10 as the standard super car, except that a set of factory tuned headers and a less restrictive exhaust system give the ACR-X a 40 HP kick in the pants meaning that there is a total of 640 HP on tap. Combine that with a weight savings of 160 pounds, despite the addition of a roll cage, and you’ve got an even more challenging track ready machine. On the market, the ACR-X is priced at $110,000.

Check out the video to see just how the Dodge Viper ACR-X did in the hands of the Stig when put up against the Top Gear USA test track.

video

For those of you who have been waiting for the facelifted 2011 Volkswagen Passat to be unveiled, you’ll be happy to know that the Paris Motor Show organizers have confirmed the car’s attendance at this year’s event.

Even better, Volkswagen is bringing a sedan and an estate version of the Passat, which should bode even better for those who have been pining to see the re-tooled version of the car for a quite some time now.

While we haven’t seen the new Passat in all its glory, we’re expecting to see a wholesale of changes on the model, including some modifications to the front and rear end, a new hood grille, and redesigned front and tail lights that should give the facelifted Passat a refreshed aesthetic appeal. In addition to the exterior upgrades, the new Passat model will also undergo an interior metamorphosis that includes a newly installed navigation system.

We expect more information from Volkswagen and the new Passat on the days leading up to the Paris Motor Show so until then, sit tight, kids, we’ll send along new developments as soon as they come out.

We have to hand it to those successfully clumsy or disloyal auto execs. Every time we need some juicy information on a car that hasn’t exactly been fully unveiled, one of those guys always comes through to provide us with information that we would have to have waited to see. Porsche Design P6930 Chronograph

Porsche Design has unveiled the P’6930 Chronograph, a watch that was inspired by the Porsche Carrera GT and the legendary P’6910 Indicator. The chronograph is made from titanium, and will be available in two versions; one painted in a blend of self-colored and black PVD-coated titanium and one in an all-black finish.

Now, back to the Carrera GT inspiration. The two push-pieces of the P’6930 are modeled after the pedals from the Carrera and it features a natural caoutchouc strap that folllows a tire-tread design. The folding clasp for the wristwatch is made from PVD-coated titanium and the automatic Valjoux 7750 movement features an energy-optimized rotor system that was designed to look like the wheel rim of the Carrera GT. Adding design to sporty appeal, the P’6930 also features a sapphire crystal caseback.

The P’6930 comes with a 48-hour power reserve and 25 jewels, as well as an hours, minutes, and seconds indicator and a day and date indication.

The P’6930 Chronograph will go on sale at specialty shops in the autumn of 2010.

Press release after the jump.

Press release

Porsche Design presents the P’6930 Chronograph. The styling of the new timepiece deliberately takes its cue form the design of the legendary P’6910 Indicator. The Porsche Design Chronograph offers a compellingly technical look and innovative material combinations. Fashioned from self-coloured or black PVD-coated titanium, the P’6930 Chronograph is powered by a highly accurate COSC-certified automatic movement. It is scheduled for launch in autumn 2010.

Purity of form with technical stylingThe P’6930 Chronograph’s impressive-looking case measures 47 millimetres in diameter and is fashioned from titanium. Particularly light and corrosion resistant, the material is characteristic of Porsche Design. The bezel and sapphire crystal caseback envelop the titanium case in a rugged grip. Four screws ensure the integrity of the case and underscore the watch’s masculine appeal. One version of the chronograph features a blend of self-coloured and black PVD-coated titanium. Another version comes in an all-black finish. The resilient black PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) coating is the outcome of a vacuum-based process that creates a condensate which leaves a protective matt-black deposit of metal nitrides on the watch.

Like the P’6910 Indicator, the styling of the P’6930 Chronograph takes its inspiration from design elements of the Porsche Carrera GT. Built between 2005 and 2006, this high-powered sports car is a demonstration of advanced engineering and represents the distilled essence of 60 years of motor racing history. The Porsche Design P’6920 Rattrapante from the Indicator collection is a recipient of the Red Dot Award.

Uncompromisingly functionalThe two push-pieces of the P’6930 Chronograph are modelled on the pedals of the Carrera GT and offer superb grip. The same goes for the Clous-de-Paris screwdown crown finished in black PVD-coated titanium. The interior profile of the natural caoutchouc strap sports a tyre-tread design, allowing air to reach the skin; it comes with a folding clasp fashioned from PVD-coated titanium. The automatic Valjoux 7750 movement features an energy-optimised rotor system designed to evoke a Carrera GT wheel rim; it can be glimpsed through the sapphire crystal caseback. Characteristic of all Porsche Design watches is the purist design, typography and colour of the dial, which facilitate crystal-clear legibility in all conditions. The main hands are partially skeletonised to prevent any obstruction of the indications. The coating of green and white luminous material on the main hands, numerals and indices ensures optimum legibility at all times.

The Porsche Design P’6930 Chronograph is powered by an ETA Valjoux 7750 automatic movement and is furnished with a certificate of accuracy issued by the independent Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).

Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class Preview

Mercedes-Benz has finally shown us some skin on the new SLK-Class for 2012. It seems the biggest changes took place on the front of the a-pillar, where the SLK’s SLS-inspired hood and nose details are very noticeable. We can also see that the headlights and front grille will be more upright, like most of the new Mercedes vehicles. The car will also be losing that Formula One nose.

The SLK will feature a metal-folding roof that might feature much more glass. We’re not sure if the glass heavy roof will be an option or not. The side mirrors have been moved down and the rear antenna has been moved to the trunk lid.

The base SLK should have around 230 horsepower from a six-cylinder motor, while the higher end versions could get a 3.5-liter. There were rumors about a turbocharged four-cylinder, but that doesn’t seem likely.

The AMG version will probably have the new 5.5-liter turbocharged V8. We can’t wait to get our hands on one.

BMW M3 Agitator by RENM

First we had the R8 Enigma, then the LP640 Axiom, and now we have the M3 Agitator. All of these amazing vehicles were created by the same tuner: RENM. The Agitator package includes both appearance and performance improvements.

The exterior of the BMW gets new customized T6 forged 3 piece wheels, adjustable coilover suspension, hallmark-designed 76mm diameter tail pipes, aero carbon fiber front spoiler, boot lid, and rear diffuser.

As for the engine, RENM modified the ECU, added an inconel high-performance exhaust, carbon fiber air-intake, sports air filters, and adjustable ride height/dampening suspension. The result is an impressive 450HP (up from 420 HP) and 440NM of torque. The inconel Formula 1 exhaust technology brings stability and heat resistance to the BMW while the rear silencer carries 12 kilograms less in the weight category. This makes the tuned vehicle weigh 40% less than the standard model.

We are excited to see what other beautiful vehicles RENM has up their sleeves. If all of their other creations come out as beautiful as these last three models, then we are sure to be pleased.

Mercedes-Benz ML-Class Preview

We have seen photos of the 2012 ML-Class before, but we now have some photos with most of the camouflage removed, giving us a clear view of what the new Mercedes-Benz ML will look like.

The wheelbase seems about the same as the current version, but we do know that the car went on a diet. The chassis will be shared with the new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the 2011 Dodge Durango.

The doors have new looks with two bold character lines. We can also see new side mirrors and a large angular grille with chrome bars running horizontal. The headlights appear to be nearly the same as we see on the CL-Class.

Under the hood will be a few motor options. Base models should get a 3.5-liter V6, while a 5.5-liter V8 and a 6.2-liter V8 will likely be on offer. A 3.0-liter diesel should also be available, as well as a hybrid model.

Expect the new ML-Class to be around $45,000 when it hits the showrooms in 2011.

Porsche 997 Turbo RM580 by RENM

Not long after the announcement of the Enigma tuning kit for the award winning Audi R8 V10, Australian tuner RENM has also released details on a new RM580 tuning kit based on the Porsche 997 Turbo. The package comes with two stages of power upgrades that lead the sports car to a total output of 580 HP (up from the standard 500 HP) and 800 NM of torque. This power increase translates into a 0-60mph sprint in 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 201 mph (an increase of 7 mph compared to the standard 997 Turbo that can hit a top speed of 194 mph).

The RM580 package includes a new exhaust system made from T309 stainless steel, with sports catalytic converters, various suspension kits that lower ride and improve handling, and a set of three piece forged wheels with titanium fasteners. On the interior, the tuner opted for carbon fiber inserts and a revised steering wheel.

Although this may be a more complete package for the Porsche 997 Turbo, it would be quite interesting to compare numbers with the new aerodynamic package provided by Vorsteiner that includes an art dry carbon fiber vacuum technology. This technology allows for a stronger and stiffer bodykit that is also 40% lighter than the components used in the standard model. Unfortunately, Vorsteiner has not released the Porsche’s new performance numbers yet, so this will be a comparison that we will have to wait to see.

Next Jaguar X-Type to be built on XK platform

Jaguar has already confirmed three new models for the next four years, and a new generation X-Type is one of them. The X-type will be offered in both sedan and station wagon versions, and will attempt to take on models like the BMW 3-Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

Okay, so that’s all old news, but we do have some new details to report. The latest reports surrounding the sedan suggest that the next X-Type will be built on the next-generation XK platform. The decision for the use of this platform comes down to money - as these things usually do. Jaguar’s goal is to keep the price of the X-type in the $40K area.

The exterior design will follow the same language as the new XJ sedan, but the interior will most likely offer lower quality materials and less technology. Under the hood, the future RWD sedan will offer small-displacement turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines to continue Jaguar’s focus on improving fuel economy, especially in the European market.

Expect the new X-Type to go on sale in 2014.

Ford works on 4x4 Fiesta

The Ford Fiesta has been a "pretty big deal" lately, and everything about it - small size, low fuel consumption, and the funky face - has people jumping on the hatchback wagon. Everyone, except for maybe the 4X4 loving people in the USA. This group of people like a car that can drive through whatever the road may through at them, be it sand, mud, or snow. And a standard Fiesta just can’t do that, but Ford’s future 4x4 Fiesta will. The future 4X4 will set out to compete with the recently launched Nissan Juke and will fit nicely under the Ford Kuga.

Ford is already testing the first prototypes in secret locations in Europe. The prototypes feature a trapezoidal grille that has been restructured and moved upwards, larger steel wheels, raised ground clearance, and a larger gap between the tops of the tires and bodywork. There is also a wider track and four-wheel drive system. The exterior design will be inspired by its larger brother, Kuga. The future crossover will be offered with two- and four-wheel drive variants and EcoBoost engines.

McLaren To Release A New Product Every Five Years

Car lovers around the globe are anticipating the new McLaren performance machine, called the MP4-12C. A weird name for a car it might be, but given the company’s history, it’s sure to be something special. McLaren isn’t sitting by and waiting for the cash to roll in though, they’re planning on much more.

We know that McLaren is hoping to release three core models, with the MP4-12C leading the charge, followed by a hyper-car or a mid-level sports car like the Audi R8. What we didn’t know was that the company is also planning on a few more models.

McLaren is planning on releasing one new model each year for the next five years. Some of the new cars might be different variations of the MP4-12C, but who’s complaining about that? Remember the 430 Scuderia? Imagine that sort of thing, but on the MP4. Just thinking about it makes us all fluttery inside.

Maserati Biturbo making a comeback in 2014

The Maserati Biturbo was a two-door, four-seater sports car introduced by Maserati in 1981. However, it was listed in the 50 worst cars of all times. Now, Maserati has decided to give the flop another chance. The car is already known as the "baby Quattroporte" or "Maseratina", but the production version will use a different name.

The "baby Quattroporte" will be positioned under the next generation Quattroporte which will be increasing its size prior to its debut in 2012. Not only will the mini sports car have its own place in the lineup, but it will also be designed as a replacement for the Alfa Romeo 166 in the Italian car representation.

The new Biturbo will be developed on the new Chrysler 300C platform and will be powered by a Pentastar 3.6 liter V6 twin turbo engine producing a total of 400 hp.

Expect the official debut to be at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show with about 10,000 units set for production every year thereafter.

Volkswagen Touareg by Je Design

It seems Je Design has a little of a crush on Volkswagen as they are constantly tuning models from the German marque. And since we have a new generation Touareg, it would only make sense that the German tuner would follow right behind with a new tuning package for it.

Making the Touareg even sportier than the SUV already is, Je Design has added a new sports radiator grill, front spoiler, front and back wheel arch kit, rear apron insert, roof spoiler, and rear hatch blend, all made in Polyurethane.

And like the excellent tuners they are, Je Design didn’t stop at the exterior modifications. After fiddling around with the engine using optimized engine management, the tuner was able to boost the performance of the 4.2-liter TDI-engine to 410 HP and 930 NM of torque. This increase provides the Volkswagen Touareg with a 0-60mph sprint time of 5.4 seconds and a top speed of 167mph.

Along with the engine modifications, Je Design has also provided the SUV with a pneumatic electronic suspension lowering module that can lower the SUV’s ride by 35 millimeters, dual exhaust pipes, and, of course, a new set of wheels.

Press release after the jump.

Press release

The new Touareg grew four centimetres in length in comparison to its predecessor. But only JE DESIGN enhances the width of this large VW as well. The new JE DESIGN Widebody-Kit in combination with the aluminium wheels and lower suspension setting bestows the SUV from Wolfsburg with significantly higher road dominance and an increased overtake prestige. The increased performance honours the wide construction’s promise in an impressive manner.

Audi RS5 by SKN Tuning

As we are all patiently waiting for the Audi RS5 to head on over to the US, tuners are already giving us the goods to want the RS5 even more. The Audi RS5’s V8 engine already develops a total of 450 HP, but the tuners from SKN didn’t seem to think that was enough for the little sports coupe. They managed to increase the power to an amazing 500 HP by adding a SKN Power Tuning Stage 2 and a Milltek stainless steel exhaust system "Hockenheim Edition" with throttle control, including motor sports Cat/Cat replacement pipe.

Not only did they recalibrate the ECU unit, but the tuners from SKN are also offering a SKN optimized BILSTEIN PSS10 suspension system that is teamed up with 20-inch BBS CH-R wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero tires. The tuner is also offering Light Alloy Wheel Spacers.

However, despite the power increase, the tuner revealed nothing about the car’s new performance numbers. We know the standard Audi RS5 sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds and has a top speed that is limited to 155 mph, but can be increased to 173 mph. We can only expect that the SKN RS5 will receive even better numbers.

Video and press release after the jump.

Press release

With more than 500 HP the SKN RS 5 ² finally produces the joy of riding on the road, which was promised by the manufacturer. The SKN tuning package is exactly the approach to the vulnerability of the original RS 5 and mutates it into a Powercar with extreme properties!

Tuning package consisting of:

SKN Power Tuning Stage 2 Milltek stainless steel exhaust system “Hockenheim Edition” with throttle control, including motor sports Cat / Cat replacement pipe SKN optimized BILSTEIN PSS10 suspension system – adjustable in height & damping Rims: BBS CH-R 10.5 x 20 ” Tires: Pirelli P-Zero in 285/30 ZR 20 ” SKN Light Alloy Wheel Spacers SKN Tuning warranty – MotorProtect36

Bentley Supersports by Wheelsboutique

With an incredible look and 621 HP under the hood, the Bentley Continental Supersports seems to be the car that needs no improvements. Of course, now that it has been written and spoken, you know there will always be a tuner that will kick it up a notch and take the Supersports to the next level. American tuner, Wheelsboutique, seems to be that tuner and, while they did not make any major changes to the car’s look, they have added some small details that should make a difference.

The package includes a set of 22" HRE 940R wheels painted in gloss black with a color matched lip and color matched inner. The wheels are wrapped in Pirelli PZero tires.

For the Bentley’s engine, the tuners offered up an Evo MS Tune system and Mansory Air Filter, as well as an RSC exhaust system. The whole package is finished by a Renntech lowering module.

The tuner said nothing on how the car’s performances have been improved, but for us, a 0 to 60 mph sprint in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 204 mph is more than enough. Not to mention that the white exterior looks amazing!

The overall look of the car sort of reminds us of the Supersports tuning kit provided by Wheelsandmore back in April. Not that the tuning kits are identical, but this package looks to be the classier, more upscale version of the Supersports, while the kit by Wheelsandmore was the hip, young, and trendy version. Basically, these two kits would be the perfect solution for a father/son purchase.

Audi TT-RS 501 HP by ABT

ABT Sportsline’s tuning packages for the Audi TT-RS consisted of just one; the Power Package. This package debuted back in September 2009 and brought the sports coupe to a worthy 420hp and a 0-60mph time of 4.3 seconds. This was much better than the standard 340hp, but ABT knew they could do better. Now, the tuning firm has increased the number of packages by one more to include the Power S package.

The new "Power S" tuning package not only includes chip tuning and an ABT intercooler, but also gets an upgraded ABT turbocharger. The result is a total output of 501 HP and a sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4 seconds flat. Don’t worry, they’ve thought about the appearance too. ABT will also be offering a variety of wheels as an aesthetic upgrade.

In the first tuning kit provided for the TT-RS, ABT Sportsline set the top speed limiter to 175mph, but this time, the tuner revealed nothing about the top speed limiter. Of course, that doesn’t mean we don’t expect it to be bumped up anyway.

Stay tuned for more details!

Audi S1 coming in front-wheel drive only

After many stories about whether or not the Audi A1 will be coming to the US, we finally get some news on the S version of the smallest model in the lineup: the S1. The new Audi S1 is expected to be unveiled at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and will come to compete with models like the Mini Cooper S and the Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA.

The S version will be distinguished by chrome door mirrors, a gloss black diffuser, S1 badges, and, of course, a new set of 18-inch twin five-spoke alloy wheels.

However, the most distinguished thing about the upcoming S1 is the fact that it will be the first Audi S model to be offered in front-wheel drive only. That’s right, no quattro 4WD for the Audi. Instead, this hatchback will be sending the power to just the front two wheels.

Under the hood there will be a tuned version of the 1.4-liter supercharged and turbocharged petrol engine already available in the A1. The result is an output of 200 HP, a sprint from 0 to 60 mph in less than 7 seconds, and a top speed of 140 mph.

Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe Pebble Beach 60th anniversary edition

Abu Dhabi is not the only country to get special edition Rolls Royce Phantoms, the UK has also received a special Drophead Coupe that celebrates Pebble Beach’s 60th anniversary.

The new 60th Anniversary Special Edition will be distinguished by a Stillwater Blue exterior paint that was chosen as a tribute to Stillwater Cove on the Monterey Peninsula. It will also receive a navy blue soft top lined with cashmere and a Crème Light leather interior. The interior of the Phantom will also get wood fittings outfitted in cross-banded Santos Pallisander veneer and a silver pinstripe inlay. The luxury doesn’t end there though. Other quality materials include hand-crafted oiled teak decking found in the roof cover and luggage compartment. The teak extends over to the picnic deck that comes with a set of crystal flutes.

"This 60th Anniversary Special Edition is the embodiment of our Bespoke capabilities in Goodwood," explains Torsten Müller-Ötvös, "It demonstrates the ability of our designers and artisans to create something absolutely appropriate for an occasion and ultimately, something exceptional to cherish forever."

Next BMW 1-Series will get new engines

Patiently waiting for the next generation BMW 1-Series to debut, we know we probably won’t be seeing it over on this side of the pond. However, that won’t stop us from taking notice of the interesting changes the BMW will undergo.

The first, and most obvious changes, will appear on the exterior of the vehicle. Well, we probably shouldn’t say "most obvious" considering the redesigned bodystyle is anything, but extravagant. The biggest changes will be made under the hood as BMW will be offering a wide range of engines, including turbo-petrol engines with three or four cylinders. However, the BMW 1-Series will remain a RWD vehicle built on the same L7 platform as the 3-Series.

The entry level models will get 1.2 and 1.5 liter engines with power outputs ranging from 70 to 184 HP. Next to it there will be a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 204 HP and 238 HP and a range of three-cylinder engines with outputs ranging from 95 to 177 HP. The top version will still get the six-cylinder N55 Twin-Scroll engine.

The first hatchback version will be revealed in early 2011, and it will be followed by both coupe and convertible versions.

Honda Jazz Hybrid

It’s time to jazz it up a bit with the new Honda Jazz. The hybrid hatchback will make its first debut at the Paris Motor Show and will be going on sale in the UK in early 2011.

Under the hood there is the same powertrain as in the Insight hybrid; a 1.3-liter i-VTEC engine combined with a CVT gearbox, with an electric motor smack dab in the middle of the two to create a parallel hybrid system.

The hybrid version will be distinguished from the standard Jazz by revised headlights with a blue surround, clear rear lights, new front grille, restyled bumpers, and a chrome tailgate garnish. The new hybrid will also be available in a range of existing colors plus a bespoke Lime Green metallic. On the interior it will get a darker single color dashboard with blue lighting on the dials and dashboard instruments. Honda will also offer an optional leather trim.

Press release after the jump.

Press release

The introduction of Honda’s petrol-electric IMA system to the Jazz, makes the car the world’s first B-segment hybrid.

Featuring the practicality and flexibility of the current Jazz, but with reduced CO2 emissions and improvements to fuel economy, the hybrid version will go on sale in the UK in early 2011.

The car will feature the same engine as the Insight hybrid; a 1.3-litre i-VTEC engine combined with a CVT gearbox, with an electric motor sandwiched between the two to create a parallel hybrid system. The hybrid Jazz – like the Insight and Civic Hybrid models – will be capable of running on the electric motor alone under some medium and low speed conditions.

Much of the Jazz’s practicality is derived from its height, but despite being taller than the current Honda Insight, the hybrid version of Jazz manages to maintain fuel consumption and CO2 emissions on comparable levels.

Video: Juan Pablo Montoya runs a Corvette ZR1 roughshod

Chevrolet Corvette

Former Formula One driver and, now NASCAR driver, Juan Pablo Montoya has never been one to hold his tongue on matters of his opinion. Whether it’s his well-documented rivalry with Michael Schumacher or his penchant for saying and doing the craziest of things at the most inopportune times, Montoya isn’t afraid to speak his mind, and that wasn’t any more evident than during his time with the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.

The Columbian driver recently paid a visit to General Motor’s Milford Proving Grounds and got a chance to drive a number of Chevrolet vehicles, including the Cruze and the Camaro. But no car caught his attention more than the Corvette ZR1.

Talking to the cameras after his run with the ZR1, Montoya was quick to pay the American sports car a few compliments, saying that,

Supercar World Cup: ZR1, DBS, GTR, 911 Turbo

With the real World Cup far behind us, we thought we would host our own world challenge, minus the annoying horns. Okay, yes, the cars do have horns in them, but none of them could be worse than those vuvuzelas.

We took four cars from four different countries in a serious attempt to see which country produced the best performance machine, and to give some self esteem back to the countries that were knocked out of the football tournament. We gave it our all to get four vehicles that were similar in mostly every way. Performance, power, styling, driving dynamics, and build quality inside and out were all examined with a fine tooth comb.

So, it was off to the car dealers to grab our wheels for the test. From the good old United States we have the new Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, America’s most powerful and most ostentatious sports car. From the fatherland, we have the classic Porsche 911, but this one has a turbo up its backside. From the land of the rising sun, we have the technical wonder, the Nissan GTR. Finally, from our home land, the United Kingdom, we have James Bond’s preferred choice, the Aston Martin DBS.

Let the games begin.

This test won’t be an easy one and we’re not going to be tackling that track either. Like taking a defensive back and having him play as the main striker, we will be taking these cars out of their element and putting them on the real roads, full of more dips and bumps than a teenager’s face. Believe us, it won’t be as fun as power sliding around a corner, but in the name of science, we are willing to make that sacrifice.

BMW M3 E92 Coupe by ARKYM

A California based tuner by the name of ARKYM revealed a new tuning kit for the BMW M3 Coupe. So, what do you think, can Americans tune German cars? We say, not this time, as this is one of the ugliest vehicles we have seen. That begin said, ARKYM did an excellent job with the M3 Aero, but this overall look is just wrinkled-up nose disgusting. For the sake of information, let’s go over some of the changes.

What ARKYM typically likes doing with its projects is combine quality products and unique ideas to create "original, brand name, products at a fair and competitive market value." This particular package includes an Aerorace Hood ($1,999), Aerorace trunk boot lid (a single side carbon priced at $1249 and a double side carbon priced at $1699), Aerosport front lip ($549), and Aerosport rear diffuser ($449). As expected, carbon fiber is used all around with each piece being 100% form fitting.

That’s all we know so far on this tuning kit for the BMW M3 E92 as the tuner has not announced if the kit allows for any performance upgrades. We don’t expect any, however, because the last BMW M3 ARKYM worked on was devoid of any performance enhancements.

The electric Buckeye Bullet from Ohio State breaks the world speed record...again

Back in 2009, the Venturi Buckeye Bullet broke the world speed record with a speed of 300 mph. Being the overachievers that they are, the students from Ohio State went back to the lab and came out with a speedier Bullet to attack Bonnevile Salt Flats, Utah for this year’s races. However, this time, OSU and Venturi have collaborated on this vehicle as a starting point for an all new car in 2011.

And, believe it or not, the Venturi Buckeye Bullet (AKA Venturi Jamais Contente) was caught clocking in an average of over 307mph over 0.62 miles in both directions. The Bullet officially recorded a top speed of 310mph. The Venturi Jamais Contente is powered by an 800 HP electric motor and lithium Ion batteries. Target is to hit a top speed of 320 mph.

Venturi’s President, Gildo Pallanca Pastor, says that this project is an important milestone in the history of automobiles : "From the Camille Jenatzi "Jamais Contente" to the "Venturi Jamais Contente", it has taken 111 years to go from 100 to 500 km/hr in an electric vehicle. It is thus with enormous satisfaction that Venturi has been able to demonstrate its technological progress in the field of electric propulsion by setting this historic record".

The Venturi will be back in Bonneville in 2011 and 2012 in an attempt to hit a top speed of 350 mph.

Video: Lexus LF-A gets ticket for going 103 mph in a 35 mph zone

stupid

There’s no question that the Lexus LF-A is one of the fastest cars you can get your hands on. Unfortunately, the supercar’s speed also makes it a magnet for law enforcement authorities and, as this video will show you, the LF-A can now be associated with a different kind of fast: how fast it can get a speeding ticket.

In this video, Claus Ettensberger of CEC gets behind the wheel of a Lexus LF-A and takes it for a quick ride around the block. Twenty minutes later, Ettensberger returns to the dealership, but when he came back, there was a piece of paper sticking inside his windshield. Yes, dear friends, that piece of paper was a speeding ticket.

Turns out, during Ettensberger’s quick run with the supercar, he got flagged by local authorities for going 103 mph in a 35 mph zone. We don’t know what this dude was thinking, but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that going three times over the speed limit is like heaving a stack of pancakes at a hungry man. The radar guns will take advantage of it.

The best part? The Lexus LF-A hasn’t even been released yet, so getting a ticket with a car that has yet to hit the streets is another feather you can add on Ettensberger’s cap.

Full Photos Of Lancia Stratos

Until now, we have only seen a few photos here and there of the one-off Lancia Stratos, but those haven’t showed many details on the car. That being said, we have been hoping that the car would be made into a production machine, and there have even been rumors that it would happen, but for now, we are unsure.

This Lancia is a one-off build for a rich German businessman by Pininfarina. There haven’t been any new details released on the car, but this is the first time we have seen large photos. Under the hood is a 483-horsepower motor that came from the Ferrari 430. The body is carbon fiber and the chassis is shorter than the 430’s. The only questions that we still have revolve around the interior and the performance figures.

After seeing the photos of this car, we can only hope that the company decides to put a few into production. We would be happy with 25 examples.

Chevrolet Orlando

Chevrolet unveiled the Orlando concept at the 2008 Paris Auto Show two years ago. This concept was their first seven-seat multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), and now, at the same show, the company will unveil the production version Orlando. Sales in Europe will begin in early 2011.

The production version will receive a lower roofline and a crossover inspired silhouette, but it will also get a recognizable Chevrolet ’face’ that is illustrated by the split radiator grille and bow-tie badge. The interior of the car will also feature a Corvette inspired dual cockpit and ambient blue backlighting in the center console.

Under the hood there will be a choice of three of Chevrolet’s latest fuel efficient engines: a 1.8 liter gasoline engine with power output of 141 hp and two diesel units, the latest version of Chevrolet’s 2.0 liter engine with outputs of 131hp (low output) or 163 hp (high output).

Press release after the jump.

Press release

Chevrolet’s first entrant into the European MPV/family van segment, the Orlando, will be one of the star attractions at the Mondial de l’Automobile in Paris on September 30, when the full production model makes its world debut. It will be one of four Chevrolet world premieres at the show.

Based on the show car concept first seen at Paris in 2008, the is a true family car for the times, combining 7-seater practicality and interior flexibility with striking crossover style design.

Chevrolet’s new compact MPV eschews the bland designs sometimes seen in the segment, and instead adopts a bolder look with its low roofline and crossover inspired silhouette, while retaining the distinctive and recognizable Chevrolet ’face’ depicted by the split radiator grille and bow-tie badge.

The Orlando’s low swept roof line is complemented by the muscular, protruding wheel-arches, housing 16, 17 or 18 inch wheels.

The new Orlando MPV has a key role to play in Chevrolet’s continued product offensive in Europe, as Wayne Brannon, president and managing director for Chevrolet Europe explains. "The new Orlando MPV kicks off an ambitious seven-product launch program over the next 15 months.

"We’re confident the Orlando not only brings great value for money to the MPV class but also something fresh - function with attitude if you like - and the opportunity for us to continue building our volume across Europe. I believe it will also bring more new customers to the Chevrolet brand."

While the exterior of the new Orlando is sure to draw plenty of attention, the interior too features the latest design cues from Chevrolet such as the Corvette inspired dual cockpit and ambient blue backlighting to the centre console. However, it’s the theatre style seating arrangement of the Orlando’s three rows of seats, the generous load area and the numerous storage solutions that will also grab the attention of family motorists.

In spite of the sweeping roof-line, the designers have succeeded in raising the second and third row of seats, which means Orlando’s occupants get an even better view both forwards and to the side. And with a wide variety of seating configurations possible, the Orlando can be quickly transformed into one of the most voluminous vans in the class when it comes to carrying loads.

Any hard working family car needs plenty of interior storage space for all the ’paraphernalia’ that builds up. Like the Orlando concept car, the Orlando obliges with a range of compartments of different shapes and sizes situated in the center console, front and rear doors, rear cargo area and even the roof.

However, perhaps the most ingenious is a storage area hidden behind front fascia of the audio, and within easy reach of the both the driver and passenger. Seen originally on the Orlando concept car, the designers have been able to integrate a usefully large area which is revealed by flipping up the face of the audio, and large enough for such items as an MP3 player, sunglasses and wallets. Within the space itself, there is also a USB port – ideal for re-charging the MP3 or iPod when on the move.

Video: Ken Block's Gymkhana 3, Part 1

drifting

After announcing it’s official debut yesterday, and months of built up anticipation, AFDC and Ken Block have unveiled the first video of their new free-wheeling joy ride, the Gymkhana III. Part one of the video is called the The Music Video Infomercial (feat. The Cool Kids).

This music video features Ken, his Gymkhana Three 2011 Ford Fiesta, Gymkhana style driving, and the new DC and Ken Block product. These aspects are placed in the video and set to the beat of an original track "Clicking (Gymkhana THREE)" that was written and produced by hip-hop duo The Cool Kids.

The Gymkhana and the Gymkhana II, became Internet sensations for the way Block performed a variety of driving styles that incorporated elements of drifting and rally racing all while being produced in such a way that incorporates a unique visual artistry that has catapulted Block to mainstream popularity. Did the Gymkhana III live up to the paint-splattered, wheel-spinning extravaganza as did the first two? Yeah, we have to go with no.

Let’s just hope part 2 will be all about driving skills.

Video: 2011 Ford Mustang GT vs 2011 BMW M3 Coupe

BMW M3

We love when fast cars get put together with other fast cars to battle it out to the finish line in an attempt to prove which is the better machine. Of course, we love sharing these experiences with our readers just as much. Today, we have the 2011 Ford Mustang GT and the 2011 BMW M3 Coupe as pitted against each other by Motor Trend. These fellow speedchasers set out to compare the two models during time attack trials and a drag race.

The 2011 Mustang GT is powered by an all new 302 cubic inch 32 valve V8 that makes 412 HP and 390 lb-ft of torque. The M3 Coupe is powered by a 4.0-liter, 414 HP V8 engine equipped with BMW’s M Double Clutch Transmission (M DCT) which lowers the 0-60mph acceleration time of the M3 to 4.5 seconds from 4.7.

So, which of the two models would you buy? The Mustang or the M3? Check out the video to see what MotorTrend thinks of the two models.

Audi To Bring A3 Sedan To U.S

It’s taken a while for Americans to smarten up, but it seems they are taking to the versatility of the hatchback more and more. The new Ford Fiesta, the Honda Fit, and the Nissan Versa are just a few examples of hot selling hatches in the United States. Yet, even we aren’t sure if the Audi A3 is worth the expense, when you can just get a GTI.

To try and solve this sales issue, Audi might be bringing the A3 sedan to the U.S. That would give the German automaker an entry-level sedan below the A4. We don’t have any details on the A3 sedan yet, but there should be some coming soon.

If these rumors are true, an A3 sedan would compete with the BMW 1-Series and possibly the Mercedes-Benz B-Class. That is, if it comes stateside. We should expect to see the A3 sedan around 2013 if not later.

Volkswagen Scirocco Rally Car

The Touareg isn’t the only Volkswagen getting a little bit of rally flavor. The Volkswagen Scirocco has also received a rally car makeover in the form of the new Scirocco R Bio Power Rally Car. This new rally car was used as an opening car for the 2010 Germany Rally and was driven by WRC returnee Carlos Sainz (Spain) and Nasser Al-Attiyah (Qatar) and the co-drivers Lucas Cruz (Spain) and Timo Gottschalk (Germany).

While the standard version Scirocco R is powered by a four-cylinder 2.0 l TSI engine that delivers 265 PS and 350 NM of torque, the rally car is powered by a 2.0-liter engine that delivers a total of 275 hp and emits 80% less CO2 in comparison to a standard car. The sprint from 0 to 62 mph will be made in about 6.5 seconds, while top speed is limited to 155 mph. The rally car also features a roll cage, racing tires, and a larger rear wing. In addition to these modifications, underbody protection was fitted for rally use.

Lexus releases exclusive LF-A luggage collection

Prospective owners of the new Lexus LF-A will have something to cheer about as the company, in collaboration with US-based travel bag and suitcase manufacturer Tumi, is set to release a line of travel cases exclusively for the supercar.

The two-piece luggage set is set to come with the LF-A in a number of select markets, including Europe and America.

The two Tumi cases were created using materials like aluminum and carbon fiber, two materials that are predominantly used in the actual supercar. What’s more, the cases will also carry the corresponding vehicle identification number (VIN) of the car that comes with it. The two cases, a smaller case that could be used for light travel and a bigger case that can be used for longer travels, were also designed to snuggly fit into the trunk of the LF-A.

All 500 models will be produced 20-at-a-time per month with the supercar, together with the cases, set to be delivered to its customers beginning at the early part of next year.

A man who held a ticket for a chance to win a 2011 Shelby GT500 sold it for $200 to another dude who ended up winning the car. Ridiculous? Yeah.

Unbelievably enough, it’s also true.

In a scene straight out of a Hollywood script, an attendee at this year’s QuakeCon Gaming Festival that was held in Dallas sold a raffle ticket

Cadillac CTS Coupe Convertible by Droptop Customs

Cadillac may have decided that the CTS-V Coupe will be the last CTS version to be offered, but High Springs, Florida based Droptop Customs has a different idea. Droptop Customs specializes in developing open-top versions of hard-top production cars, and their latest project is a coupe-convertible version for the CTS-V. Its official debut will be made in November at the SEMA Show. According to Droptop Customs, the new Cadillac CTS Coupe-Convertible comes as a replacement for their Eldorado model and the company has big expectations for it. Their hopes are to sell around 3000 units a year.

The convertible version comes with a fabric soft-top which retracts in a space above the luggage compartment. The tuner said that despite modifications made to the car, the aerodynamics have not been modified.

No word yet on if the tuner has opted to modify the car’s engine, but we expect to see the same 304 HP 3.6 liter V6 as found in the hard-top version of the Cadillac CTS-V.

More details are to be announced closer to the official launch.

Contagiri 8C Competizione Watch

Giuliano Mazzuoli has unveiled a special edition Contagiri Watch inspired by the legendary Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione model. It comes in white gold and carbon fiber and will be limited to 500 units. But, before you buy, you should know that they are exclusively reserved for the fortunate owners of the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione.

This watch is like no other in which the number setup is quite unorthodox. It is setup up to look like a gauge in a car where the zero is at the southernmost point of the watch with the one-hand moving in an arc of 270
